We are a multifaceted applied linguistics department that focuses on post-secondary/adult language learning, teaching and use. Our faculty specialize in several areas, including second language (L2) acquisition, writing and teacher education; sociolinguistics; language assessment; corpus linguistics; and educational technology.
Our engagement with the world can be seen in our faculty, which includes specialists from Argentina, Germany, Korea, Sweden and the U.S.

Why Study Applied Linguistics?
Language is the foundation of most social science explorations and almost all human endeavors. A degree in applied linguistics can lead to multiple career pathways, including adult language teaching, language teacher education and language data analysis careers in academic, nonprofit and corporate settings in the U.S. and abroad.
